Overview

Learn how to lead a high-performing team through understanding and preventing dysfunction in the workplace. Developed by leadership expert Steve Griffin.

In this short course, you'll learn how to identify and address key types of dysfunctional behaviour, helping you build a more productive team. Discover what drives people to do things the way they do, and how understanding these key principles will enable you to prevent unhealthy work cultures and foster positive, high-performing workplace environments.

Course outline

Our courses are flexible, enabling you to plan your study around your other commitments. You can choose to study when it suits you during the learning period (3 February – 2 March 2025).

This short course will require around 20 hours of study during the learning period – you can view the course overview here for more details including assessments. 

Module 1: Identifying dysfunctional behaviour 

Understand and identify the types of poor behaviour that take place in the workplace. 

Module 2: Psychological frameworks

Recognise why dysfunctional behaviour happens and where it may come from. 

Module 3: Dysfunction management toolkit

Create and use a set of tools to actively address dysfunctional behaviour in your workplace.

Assessments  

The course includes a number of assessments designed to check and confirm your knowledge. You will have completed the course successfully once all learning modules and online assessments have been completed. 

Upon successful completion of the course, you will be issued a digital badge to recognise your learning achievements


Requirements

There are no prerequisites for this course – it is open to anyone who has confidence listening, reading, and writing in English.

Technology requirements

We recommend a laptop or desktop computer and a reliable internet connection. For most courses you'll need to download and populate assignments. These are usually available as Microsoft Word documents.

A minimum number of learners is needed for effective interaction and feedback, while a maximum cap of learners ensures high quality learning and support. If the minimum number of enrolments required for a course isn’t met, or the maximum cap is exceeded, learners will be given the option to defer their study or receive a refund.
