A digital way to recognise the skills and achievements you have learnt through a specific Tuihono UC course.
Digital badges are smart images you can share on your LinkedIn profile, personal website, blog or online CV that are hyperlinked to information about the credential, course and skills you have acquired. This shows your employer (or future employer!) your skills and strengths in this area, and celebrates your mahi.
It's a bite-sized qualification that's accredited at Level 5 or above. Many of our micro-credentials focus on skill development opportunities in response to industry demand.
Successfully completing a Tuihono UC online course deserves recognition! The type of recognition depends on the course you complete – this can include a confirmation email and/or digital badge.
You can also get academic points for some courses. And you may be able to credit the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points with your professional membership association. Continuous Professional Development (CPD) requirements vary by profession and membership association. It is advisable to check your professional membership association or regulatory body guidelines to determine if the activity qualifies for CPD credit.
If you have completed a programme, you may be eligible for a university transcript or letter of confirmation or to apply to attend a graduation celebration. Refer to the University of Canterbury rules and requirements for graduation.

If you're a domestic learner enrolled in a micro-credential course you need to provide a verified copy of ONE of your identity documents:
How do I get a verified copy?
What if I can't prove my domestic identity?

At this point, these will be your options:
Contact our Online Learner Experience team if you have more questions.

The cost of Tuihono UC programmes such as the Master of Organisational Psychology will include a student services fee component. This is in addition to the tuition fee per course. If you are studying an online professional development short course or micro-credential, you do not have to pay this fee.
Each year university students around Aotearoa New Zealand are charged student services fees in addition to their tuition fees. All the fee money collected can only be used for the benefit of students - never for academic or administrative costs.
The amount of the fee is automatically calculated on how many points you enrol in per academic year, capped at a maximum of 150 points. UC Online students are charged a reduced rate of 20%. You can learn more here: Student services levy | University of Canterbury
The total amount to pay will show on the invoice included with your Enrolment Agreement. All tuition fees, SSL, and any other costs listed on your invoice need to be paid before your enrolment is considered complete. SSL can be paid with Fees Free funding or a Studylink loan if you are eligible.
For our programmes, you may be eligible for StudyLink Loan for fees or FeesFree assistance - both of these options need to be arranged by you directly, via StudyLink or FeesFree.
Check eligibility at feesfree.govt.nz and StudyLink.
Please check the information on each relevant programme page - some are only full-time, and some allow for part-time study.
Please check the relevant pages to see intake times throughout the year.

Following this, we will generate an ‘Enrolment Agreement’ outlining your courses, fees and student agreement, which you need to sign and accept. Your enrolment is only complete when the fees outlined in this agreement are paid in full (view payment options), at which point you’ll become ‘Fully Enrolled’ and receive a ‘Welcome to Tuihono UC | UC Online’ email with details of your next steps to start learning.
