Overview

Developed in conjunction with Risk NZ and the Chartered Governance Institute of New Zealand (CGINZ), our online Risk Management courses give you key skills and practical tools to manage risk in the workplace.

Designed for working professionals, these flexible online courses give you the confidence to identify, assess, manage, and communicate risk across a range of organisational contexts. Each nine-week course builds on the last — from core risk management frameworks and processes to hands-on risk management tools and techniques. You'll also explore strategies for communicating and reporting risk, supported by real-world case studies and expert guidance.

Get started with Risk Management Essentials, where you’ll learn to identify, assess, and manage risks in your organisation, grounded in ISO 31000 and the Aotearoa New Zealand regulatory context. In Risk Management Tools, you’ll deepen your capabilities with both qualitative and quantitative tools, using case studies and hands-on exercises to evaluate and mitigate real-world risks. Finally, Risk Communication and Reporting will give you the confidence to engage diverse stakeholders, develop shared risk language, and foster positive culture through clear, evidence-based risk management processes.

With these online courses, you'll gain the core skills you need to support robust risk management and governance risk compliance in the workplace. Study just 6 hours online per week, and prepare your organisation for the future.

These courses are ideal for

  • Working professionals who have risk management as part of their role
  • Professionals who want to develop their knowledge in this area
  • Early career risk management practitioners who deal with risk everyday
  • Directors and board members who need to be aware of general risk issues

How it works

Our risk management courses are flexible, enabling you to plan your study around your other commitments – provided you meet assessment deadlines. You can choose to study online when it suits you during the nine-week learning period, with a one-week study break in the middle of your course to take a break, or catch up.

We recommend completing around 6 hours of study a week during the learning period (excluding the study break). After the course ends, there will be a two-week period for marking and feedback.
